How the city is divided

Calgary addresses are split into four quadrants — NW, NE, SW and SE — by Centre Street (north–south) and roughly the Bow River and Memorial Drive area (east–west). Every address ends with its quadrant, so it is the quickest way to place a home on the map.

Northwest and Southwest

These quadrants run toward the mountains and include many established communities, river valley parks and quick access west toward Canmore and Banff.

Northeast and Southeast

These include close access to the airport, major industrial and employment areas, and many newer master-planned communities.
